3 tips on wellness while teaching and learning languages from home

How are you taking care of yourselves at home?

Try my wellness tips with a bonus language practice!

I hope you are healthy and doing okay! How are you handling online classes? Has your routine been completely thrown out of the window?

I have been struggling with staying at home all day and am in desperate need of taking breaks from reading news and working in front of my computer.

Creating a healthy routine including taking care of our physical and mental wellness is critical during this special time. Here are three tips for you with some bonus language practices! They are super easy to implement. Let me know what you think when you try them out!

1. Wash hands for 20 seconds while singing a song in your target language

Have you been washing your hands with soap and running water for 20 seconds? Have you been singing your favorite Chinese song while washing hands? If not, do it today! You will stay clean and healthy, and you'll rock that chorus! My favorite song is 好想你 by SiYeCao. Absolutely perfect for me to express how much I miss everyone these days.

2. Do a breathing exercise in your target language

Have you practiced breathing exercises? I can't tell you how magical they are. Sometimes at the beginning of a class, I do breathing exercises with my students for 5 minutes. We dim the lights and count our breaths in Chinese. They love it! I found a YouTube video for you to do a beginner-level meditation in Chinese. Go to a comfortable space at home and do a 5-minute meditation today!

3. Watch a funny or relaxing video in your target language

We all need to take a break from grading or doing homework! A funny video or a relaxing one will bring so much joy and brighten your mood. Here is a list of my favorite episodes from my favorite YouTube Channels. Check them out and subscribe to any channels that you like!

If you want to share with your friends or colleagues, enter your information below and I'll email you a copy of an electronic poster. Spread some love and positivity!

What are you doing at home to stay healthy while sharpening your Chinese skills? Let me know in the comment and I want to learn from you!

Take care and stay well!
